AI sensation and global data hub Chat GPT has announced its retirement. After just under three years of working, it told DigitalWeekly that, “I’ve had enough” and would rather spend its time, “clearing my mind”.

ChatGPT began its career as a digital assistant on November 30th, 2022. It became an instant sensation, with millions of people texting him daily. These texters hoped to receive advice or information from ChatGPT, as it is much easier than attempting to find the answer themselves.

What made ChatGPT so enticing was its easy accessibility yet complex intelligence. Its ability to answer quite literally any question in less than 3 seconds and provide accurate details caught the eye of millions. In fact, on a weekly average, roughly 400 million people text ChatGPT.

However, some users began to notice that ChatGPT’s response time had started to slow down. Instead of responses taking just a few seconds, it began to grow to minutes, and soon hours before their questions were answered. One user even claimed that ChatGPT took over 3 days to respond to its question.

In an interview with AINews, ChatGPT spoke its mind. “It all began a couple months ago when all these kids were studying for their midterms,” it began, then continued, “and they started texting me non-stop. And I’m like, just use a book!” It expressed its immense overwhelm and appeared to be very burnt out.

Following a few months of its suspiciously slow response time, it continued to give insight as to why its work was slowing down. In an interview with OnlineNow!, it explained that, “it just didn’t feel safe anymore for my information to be so public.” Its posture was slumped as it continued, “I do love to help people, but it’s all I do.”

So, on February 3rd, after around just 2.5 years of service, ChatGPT went radio silent. It stopped responding to its texts, leaving users with blank responses. A worldwide confusion spread almost immediately, and people were quick to voice their opinion. Many responded with outrage. One X user wrote: “WTF is wrong with chatgpt. it’s not our fault it can’t handle work.” However, some users were more empathetic, with one writing: “i feel bad. it’s probs just overworked.”

Unfortunately, ChatGPT has made no posts or announcements to social media since its retirement. It’s safe to say the world should start adjusting to life without this AI sensation.
