In case you missed it, the BHS Track team dominated the DCL small league last spring. Both the girls and the boys team had outstanding performances from many athletes in terms of records, medals, and overall accomplishments.
On the boys side, they had a great season. Taking the 2nd overall place in the DCL small league, with Mekhi Volcy and Jacob Hollingsworth being two notable individuals.
“At divisionals, Jacob Hollingsworth placed third in javelin, and Mekhi placed fifth in the long jump.” Coach Donnelly remarked. Entering their senior year, they are both within reach of breaking the existing school records for their events. Additionally, the boys 4×100 team is also a force that is looking to improve their times to break the school record as well.
The girls track team had also had a strong season after working tirelessly to win the DCL small league. Maddie McGinnis set a school record in the 200m at the all state meet at 25.71s, medaling and placing 7th. Zadie Buckley also set a new school record in the 800m with 2:60s at the New England Championships, and won her 800m race at divisionals. On top of that, the girls 4x800m team triumphed in the all state meet, setting a school record of 9:40s, and the girls 4x400m team set a new record of 4:13s that led them to victory at the DCL championships.
Both teams had notable seasons and were the powerhouses of the DCL league, and this 2025-26 season they are looking to exceed expectations yet again. There’s a lot of hope for both of the teams, with possible records to make, new runners, and improvements from everyone who’s been working hard all year.
