‘Peter And The Starcatcher’ Preview

 By: Kiley Farrow, 2028

Back from 2016 with an even better production, Bedford High School is proud to present Peter and the Starcatcher as the fall play! The play is based on  J.M Barrie’s 1904 stage play and the 1911 novel, which follows the story of Peter Pan, a young girl named Wendy Darling, and her two brothers named John and Michael, in Neverland as they explore their  imagination. However, this play is more tied to the YA novel of Peter and the Starcatcher by Dave Barry which is a 2004 middle grade fantasy novel following Peter and his friend, Molly, who set out on a magical journey to find a treasure chest of ‘star-dust.’ This is also tied to the 2009 play, ‘Peter and the Starcatcher’, by Rick Elice.

Directed by Katrina Faulstich, with costumes by Betsy Goetschius and her team, and technological additions directed by Ryan Wetherbee, this play is extremely immersive and fun for ages 8+, due to the less appropriate jokes. This play has minimal music with an in-house pit orchestra, who will be playing the live soundtrack and sound effects throughout. The cast* will be singing and showcasing the story with minimal props and a poor man’s theater type of style. It’s a comedic play with some sadder elements included. It also has engaging choreography and catchy songs. It is quite a unique and creative play for all generations.

This two hour long play with 2 acts will run on November 21st at 7pm, and then two shows on Saturday the 22nd at 1 pm and 7 pm. Concessions should be available before and during intermission. Tickets are available at the end of October and beginning of November. Tickets will be $10 for students and $12 for parents and adults.
