Best Buddies Club Profile

By Becca Sachs, 2025

If you’re interested in joining a club this school year, I’d highly recommend joining Best Buddies! Best Buddies aims to bridge the gap between people with and without intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). In order to do so, the club meets with students from Bedford LABBB (a special education program right here at BHS) to forge genuine connections and friendships!

Best Buddies is great no matter the level of commitment you’re looking for. There’s two events a month, one club meeting at BHS and a dance at the Lexington Community Center. The club also offers a one-to-one peer buddy program where members can get matched to a student with IDD and build a friendship together throughout the year. Attending meetings is optional (yet highly encouraged) but committing to becoming a peer buddy is a serious commitment. If you’re interested in the club, check out their instagram @bedfordbestbuddies where you can also find the link to their google classroom in bio. An informational meeting was held last week but to hear more about the club reach out to becca_sachs-2025@bedfordps.org. If interested in the peer buddy program, a form is available in Google Classroom to apply. The first dance of the year will be October 17th and the match party date is still TBD. We had a great turn at the activities fair and first meeting with over 100 members in the club. Can’t wait for another great year!
