Varsity Block Blast to be Newest Spring Sport

By: Ayah Rizk, 2027

As the spring sports season begins, Bedford High School has created its newest spring sport, Varsity Bockblast. In order to be ready for tryouts, the head coach, Mr. Dolan recommends that athletes “try their hardest to beat their highscore everyday.” He told our team that like many of the students in his class, he too has “been playing Block Blast nonstop, especially while teaching.”

Tryouts will be held next week, on April 7th and 8th from 4-6 in the gym. In the coming days leading up to the tryouts, he encourages athletes to play Block Blast during classes, just to make sure they are ready to compete with other schools once their season starts. Mr. Dolan tells us that “schools like Concord Carlisle and Lexington have been holding captain’s practices almost every day for months now.” Bedford is “very behind” in skill, and if “we want to win any tournaments this season, players NEED to practice.”

Aanya Jain, an avid Block Blaster, told us that she is “super excited for the season” and has even “dropped out of piano” so she could have “more time to practice” everyday. There is a lot of interest in this sport, so make sure to come prepared, as people trying out with a starting high score lower than 50k will be automatically cut from the team. Good luck to everyone participating!
