BHS 2025 School Trip to “The Good Old Days” Announced

By Timothy Dolan

In previous years, Bedford High School has run a generous slate of trips with the aim of expanding student perspectives, but this year, they are taking a different approach with a faculty trip to “The Good Old Days.”

Teachers will be required to leave their cell phones behind before being deposited in 1985, where they will be submerged in a warm bath of nostalgia, spending an unsupervised day riding bicycles to each other’s childhood houses (likely across multiple state lines), looking up a partner’s childhood best friend’s number in the white pages (by their parent’s name obviously), watching VHS recordings of Thundercats and Masters of the Universe (with the commercials), and spending their allowance at the arcade, roller rink, or bowling alley.

A key aspect of travel involves the cuisine of the local culture. As such, meals for this trip will include the following, but will not allow substitutions for allergies or dietary needs

  • Breakfast: Cheerios, whole milk, and Sunny Delight
  • Lunch: Bologna and yellow mustard on Wonder Bread with Five Alive
  • Dinners: Microwaved Salisbury Steak and mashed potatoes in gravy
  • Dessert options: Candy Cigarettes, Table Talk Pie

During their time in “The Good Old Days,” teachers will receive a ticket to one of the following theater releases: Back to the Future, The Goonies, The Breakfast Club

Upon departure, all teachers will be given a cassette mix tape featuring “Take on Me” by A-ha, “Can’t Fight this Feeling” by REO Speedwagon, “We Built This City” by Starship, “Don’t You (Forget About Me)” by Simple Minds, “Heaven” by Bryan Adams, “Cool It Now” by New Edition, “We Belong” by Pat Bentar, and “Raspberry Beret” by Prince.

To keep from tampering with the space time continuum, teachers are not allowed to invest in Apple stock or real estate while on this trip.
