Animal Advocacy Club Profile

By Jana Safieddine

  1. What is/are the names of the founders of the club?

I (Olivia Washington) am the President and founder of Bedford Animal Advocacy but I have a leadership team of Skye Hybl, Taevy Malone, Hannah Malenchini, Avery Malenchini, Grace Collins, Abbey Miller, and Halle Burke.

  1. What inspired you to start the club?

I have been volunteering at the Lowell Humane Society for the last year and I have seen that their facility definitely needs more funds. They run off of donations only and I would love to be able to raise money for them.

  1. What is the main purpose of your club?

The main purpose of the club is to raise money for the Lowell Humane society and educate people about animal shelters as well as raise awareness about the Lowell Humane society specifically.

  1. What makes your club unique from other clubs at the school?

Our club is unique because it specifically focuses on funding a local non profit in need. It is also an outlet for students to express love for animals, which is not something that other clubs at the school offer.

  1. What do you guys do during the meetings?

We will hold small fundraisers throughout the year as well as plan for and organize a big fundraising event at the end of the school year. There will also be opportunities to come to the Humane society and volunteer there. Also, there will be times to hang out with shelter animals!
