Kamal Hassan: New Teacher Profile

Mr. Kamal Hassan is a new English Teacher at Bedford High School in 2023. He is currently teaching English 10 Honors and Asian American Literature, and Digital Storytelling and Journalism. He  can be found in B204. 

Prior to BHS, Mr. Hassan taught English “in Pennsylvania, close to Penn State and also in Los Angeles, next to the Netflix headquarters.” His favorite story to teach is “We Are Not Free by Traci Chee,” and his favorite story outside of the English classroom is “Flowers for Algernon.”

When he isn’t in the classroom, Mr. Hassan loves food and exercise. His favorite meal is “steak and rice with mushrooms, onions, and feta-stuffed olives,” and he has become a regular in the weekly teacher basketball game before school. He also likes spending his free time “Writing screenplays, practicing piano, and doing muay thai.” His current favorite podcast is “Scriptnotes,” and favorite show is Our Flag Means Death. One fun fact is that “All Might from the anime series My Hero Academia” is his “favorite fictional character of all time.”
