The Bedford Boys Ice Hockey team just completed a successful regular season in which they finished 14-4-2 with a 78-30 ratio of goals scored to allowed. The team is led by junior captain Charles Demeo with 28 points, followed by junior Ryan McGrath with 23 points. Multiple players also mentioned the strong contributions from senior forward James Naylor and junior goalie Max Marchionna.
When asked about the turnaround from last year’s team that started the season on a seven game losing streak before ultimately bowing out in the first round of the state tourney, senior captains Matt Colasante and Kenny Doucet pointed out the value of that tough season as a building block. They noted how many players returned better and stronger from last year for a team currently dominated by upper classmen. The roster boasts 14 juniors, four seniors, and only four sophomores and freshmen combined. They also described this year’s team as “tight knit,” and “like brothers.” On the ice, the team is known for its defense first style.
All of this growth will be on display this Thursday night at 5pm when 16 seed Bedford squares off against Marlborough at the Edge Arena in the round of 32 state tournament. Come out and support them!
