After receiving a combined 60 of 61 student essays that were clearly written by Chat GPT, (the remaining essay being an unfinished draft with only the hopeful phrase “Macbeth is a tragic figure because…”), English teachers Sarah Kane and Liz Marcotte launched into an impassioned rant that their classes need to “learn how to cheat the old fashioned way,” pointing out that Google, Sparknotes, and Schmoop were perfectly fine substitutes for critical thinking. “I would even be fine with a John Green Crash Course video,” mumbled Marcotte.
Students utilized their best “Gen Z stare,” before sophomore Taevy Malone tremulously raised her hand and asked “Excuse me, but what’s a Schmoop?” It was at this point that Kane walked sadly out of the room, and down the hallway, hoping to consult with veteran teacher and Gen X member, Kelly Sullivan. Unfortunately, Sullivan was in the middle of explaining to her class that they would “get more mileage out of Cliff’s Notes.”
