Ms. Julia Richards- Our New Guidance Counselor!

By Mila Maricic, 2027

Starting in 2024, Mrs. Richards is a new counselor at BHS! She hopes to meet many new people
this year and interact with a lot of students. To introduce her, the Lookout has asked her some
questions:

The Lookout: What interested you in working at schools?
Mrs. Richards: I felt drawn to schools and counseling because I really liked my guidance
counselor in high school and could see myself doing that one day.

The Lookout: What are your hobbies or interests outside of work?
Mrs. Richards: I enjoy cooking, trying restaurants and spending time in Boston with my friends,
and I have a sourdough starter.

The Lookout: If you could take any class or learn about anything, what would it be?
Mrs. Richards: I wish I had taken a finance or accounting class, or learned about managing
money. I think that it’s an important skill.

The Lookout: How would you describe yourself in one word?
Mrs. Richards: Thoughtful – I feel like like I think things through.

The Lookout: What advice would you give to a high schooler?
Mrs. Richards: Don’t take everything too seriously, or spend a lot of time worrying about tests.

The Lookout: What is a fun fact / something you want people to know about you?
Mrs. Richards: I have 2 younger sisters that are both going to Providence College.
